Part P of the Building Regulations:
As of the 1 st January 2005 new regulations came into force.
These regulations mean that only competent people can touch your electrical installation in your house. You can change a plug but that is about all.
Any person who undertakes work on domestically electrical installations from that date and fails to follow the guidelines of these Building Regulations could:
Put their own life at risk, and that of other people, at risk.
Be fined if found liable of non compliance.
Potentially invalidate home insurance.
The Regulations have been introduced in a bid to cut the loss of life, 750 serious injuries and the 2,336 house fires caused by unsafe electrical work in 2003.
